Brokenbranch Lab — Coherence Lab

A physics playground.

Interactive simulations of strange-but-real physics — built to sharpen questions, not to settle them. None of this is peer-reviewed. All of it is honest about exactly what it is. One wing of the Brokenbranch Lab — the physics one; the front door to every experiment is at /lab/.

romance in the questions. rigor in the claims.

01What's playable now

Microtubule Resonance Live
An interactive explorer for fractal electromagnetic resonance in biological nanostructures — ten physics engines, a hypothesis lab, and a meta-analysis panel. Honest scorecard built in: of seven hypotheses, one is falsified, one is statistically insignificant, and a regular lattice beats the fractal one. The sim shows its own failures. Open the simulator →
Wormhole Playground Live
Model the physics of a traversable wormhole — the Morris–Thorne metric, geodesics through the throat, and wave propagation in curved space. Two real results: the throat naturally filters angular momentum (pure geometry), and classical physics can maintain a wormhole but never create one. The exotic-matter gap is 60 orders of magnitude. The math is beautiful; the engineering is impossible with known physics. Open the playground →

02Run 01 — The Coherence Window

The flagship process artifact: a machine-assisted research ladder, recorded end-to-end in Erdős's provenance ledger — and honest enough to report its own headline thesis as null. The physics is prior art; the auditable trail is the product.

Null

The headline thesis died. A coordination–information tradeoff as a communication channel in coupling strength: convergent null across ~11 instruments and 6 parallel agents. Load-bearing, and kept on the books.

Empirical

What survived: the order-parameter susceptibility peaks at partial coherence — a discovered closed form χ(r) = a·r²(1−r)³ with its interior maximum at r* = 2/5 (R² = 0.967), confirmed analytically in mean field.

Conjecture

The cross-scale echo: quantum transport (ENAQT) shows the same up-then-down shape at intermediate coupling. An empirical analogy, not a demonstrated shared mechanism — the adversarial audit downgraded it, and the downgrade stands.

Proven

The shape claim is machine-checked: a Lean 4 + mathlib proof that the representative hump x(1−x) has an interior global maximum compiles green, sorry-free, standard axioms. The exact fitted form is the one remaining step.

Every rung above is a node in a replayable provenance DAG with four confidence layers — walk the trail at Erdős. Or skip the ledger and watch the result blink: Fireflies — the coordination inversion as a field of synchronizing lights you can steer.

03The shelf of honest dead ends

The Kozyrev Mirror — an exploration of spiral-geometry field focusing. We found a robust effect (chiral boundaries induce angular momentum, and the golden ratio shows up in the energy flux) — and then found that our explanation for why was wrong. Shelved, documented honestly, kept on the shelf. The negative results are the most valuable thing the lab makes.

On the bench: a quantum compass that may explain how birds navigate, and other corners of quantum biology where the questions are open and the parameter ranges are published. Nothing promised until it's playable.
